A one-piece gives you the most coverage and, in bra-sized styles, still fits through the band and cup rather than just stretching to fit. None of these are mutually exclusive. Mastectomy-friendly and pocketed styles
If you wear a breast form, look for pocketed swimwear, built with the same idea as a pocketed bra: a secure interior pocket that holds a compatible form in place through normal pool or beach activity. It is worth trying these on in the store rather than guessing at fit online, since how a pocket sits changes depending on the cut of the suit.
Getting the fit right before you buy
Swimwear fit is less forgiving than everyday clothing. A band that is slightly loose on a bra might just feel a little off. The same fit on a swim top can mean it shifts every time you move in the water.
